Tschech border control demands a photograph
The border control in Tschech Republic demands always for a passport photograph for every passport, children are included.
The
same occurs on the border to Egypt , Hong-Kong, India, Jamaica, the Maldives, Malta, Mexico, the Philippines, Poland, Romania, Russia, Sri Lanka, Tunisia, Hungary, Venezuela and Cyprus.

RAC in GB) they discovered that different taxis charged for the same distance sometimes eight times as much as the cheapest taxi company.
Very expensive rate the "Sinluvny Preprava" taxis which haven't got steady prices (non official private taxis), but you can't see the difference from outside.
If possible order a taxi by phone. If you can't do it discuss the fare before you start by taxi.

AAA (phone 1080) and Halo-Taxi (phone 1031).
The basic charge for these taxis are 25 CZK and 17 CZK per km, if you need to stop on a traffic light or stacking in a jam the charge is 4 CZK per minute.
The cheapest way to travel is by tram or Underground, tickets are available at corner shops on the entrance to the subway or at the machine on the platform.
Public services are well developed in Prague.

Customs against smuggling - allowed for private use only |
In a tiny building in the courtyard of the main custom there are all things stored which has been smuggled from the Tschech Republic and caught from the custom.
Millions of cigarettes furniture schnapps, paintings clothes cutlery etc.
Every week the customs destroys all the goods, but the trade is booming, so there is hardly a chance to stop the illegal trade.
In 1999 Poland produced wrong brand-name articles 23%, worth 41.6 Mio.DM, second place the Tschech Republic with 16% and Turkey on third place with 12%.
Best-selled false brand name articles at the black market were heavy Rolexes ( actually made of metal). Pokemon articles,
videos, gameboys, trainers, tricots of Bayern Munich.
Last October, the custom confiscated around 5039 CD's , 3176 videos and 151 watches.
Usually the articles will be destroyed, but it is allowed to bye such articles for personal use and pass the border to your country
Last year the customs confiscated 400kg caviar ( worth:621000 DM),
these goods are stored in a special building where a special office has to decide what they want to do with it, because the caviar was from a
rare species and it isn't permitted to have it. |
