The capital of the Czech Republic: Prague

The historical centre of the capital city, more than 10 centuries old, offers its inhabitants and visitors a unique symbiosis of all architectural styles – from Romanesque rotundas through gothic towers, renaissance feudal homes, Jewish synagogues, to baroque churches and cloisters. The city is full of little romantic streets, golden towers, and the copula of churches. And we cannot overlook the Art Nouveau and modernism. One poet characterised Prague as a “symphony in stone” and thus caught its nature and unique beauty. This city of a hundred spires, built along the meandering banks of the Vltava and on the seven surrounding hills, has never ceased to astonish poets, painters and photographers. The architectural treasures in the historical centre of Prague are not, however, simply stone witnesses of the city’s past. Prague was and is a living city in which an unprecedented number of theatres, concert halls, exhibitions spaces, museums and galleries are situated.
The cultural offer is expansive. Prague is as heterogeneous as a person could wish and shows one of its enchanting faces to every new arrival.
